THE former Mayor of Enfield Lee Chamberlain has won the Bush Hill Park by-election following this week’s poll.

Mr Chamberlain, who was the mayor in 2008 to 2009, will take over from fellow Conservative Eleftherios Savva, (Pictured above) who resigned as a Bush Hill Park councillor for family reasons in June.

After first being elected to the council in 2002 Mr Chamberlain lost his Southbury Ward seat in last year’s poll.

Mr Chamberlain, who got 1,108 votes, beat Labour rival Ivor Wiggett, who came second with 668 votes, and independent candidate Tony Kingsnorth, who was third with 230 votes.

The turnout was just 23.8 per cent.

Deputy leader of the Conservative group Henry Lamprecht told the Advertiser: “We know Lee will work hard for the people of Bush Hill Park, they chose wisely. He will serve his constituents tirelessly.

“There has been swing towards the Conservative Party and it shows the people of Bush Hill Park are satisfied with the way we have served in opposition and dissatisfied with the Labour administration.”
