A special flight of Cyprus Airways was warmly welcomed by airport authorities of the Iraqi Kurdish capital Erbil and representatives of the country’s biggest tour organizer “Merjan”.

The Cypriot flight carrier is starting commercial flights to Erbil on Monday, July 4, and a delegation, consisting of Cyprus Airways executives, state officials, tour organizers and media representatives inaugurated the connection last Friday.

Upon arrival, an official ceremony was held at the airport to celebrate the initiation of flights between Cyprus and northern Iraq. The ceremony was followed by a visit to “Merjan” offices, where the Iraqi tour organizer and Cyprus Airways signed an agreement.

Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Cyprus Ministry of Communication and Works Alekos Michaelides, referred to the importance of the flights for strengthening business relations between the two countries.
