The Archbishop of America, Demetrios, who is visiting Cyprus at the moment, met with the President of the House of Representatives, Yiannakis Omirou yesterday, whom assured that the Archdiocese of America and the expatriate community in the USA will continue their efforts to support the Cypriots.
The Archbishop of America hoped that soon justice would be administered in Cyprus. Also, he mentioned that he was honored to visit Cyprus and talked about the recent meetings he had had with American politicians, with whom he discussed, the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Cyprus issue.
Mr. Omirou expressed the gratitude of the Cypriots, for the action of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese in America concerning the promotion of the Cyprus question, and updated the Archbishop of America about the talks regarding the solution of the Cyprus issue. In the meeting, the Archbishop was accompanied by a delegation with the president of the Cyprus Federation of America, Panikos Papanikolaou, as the leading figure.
The choir of the Archbishop of America is also in Cyprus and will give a concert tonight on Friday at the Presidential Palace park.
