RULING AKEL’s youth organisation EDON yesterday reported to police that its website had been hacked into by people protesting the deaths of 13 people in the naval base blast last Monday.

The hackers also targeted the website of a leftist student movement.

They left a message on the page saying they were doing it to protest the blast, which killed 13 and wrecked the economy while Cyprus has lost any trace of reliability and dignity abroad.

In a written statement, EDON said “We respect the feelings of the people … but we have to censure actions aiming in politically exploiting these feelings.”

The organization called on all those supporting the right of the people to express their views to take a stance and urged parties to take a clear position on the matter.
