Singer Peter Andre finds an unlikely library partner in Boris Johnson as the pair launch a London literacy scheme together.

Andre, helped by London Mayor Boris Johnson, read children’s book The Gruffalo to an audience of school children in the Botwell Green Library, Hayes, London.

A man dressed as Where’s Wally also joined the pair to help keep the kids entertained.

Before the photo call Andre posted on Twitter about his meeting

He wrote: ‘On my way to London to meet the mayor’.

Andre, who has two children with ex Katie Price, later said: ‘As a child I adored books and listening to the fantastic stories my parents would tell me and my brother.

‘Reading doesn’t need to be a chore, and the earlier we get our kids to embrace it, the better.’

The campaign hopes to recruit Literacy Champions and Reading Ambassadors across the capital and is intended to help encourage parents to read with their parents.
