Minister of Labour Sotiroulla Charalambous has assured that the Government will continue to support the work of the Committee on Missing Persons, and will do everything possible to expedite the whole process.
Addressing the unveiling of a monument for the persons missing since 1974, on Sunday, Charalambous said ”Cyprus must be reunified and it will be reunified,” adding that ”we will never compromise with the status quo and the division, because we have no right to accept such a disastrous solution.”
She noted that President Demetris Christofias had placed a just solution, providing for a bizonal bicommunal federation, at the top of his priorities, and pointed out that ”achieving a solution does not depend solely on us but primarily on Turkey.”
”Turkey must shift its stance and work on the basis of UN resolutions for a Cyprus settlement. So we call on the international community as well to move in that direction,” she added.
