A 32-year-old man was remanded for two days in police custody on Tuesday on suspicion of possessing counterfeit cash.
According to the police report, the suspect arrived at Larnaca Airport following a flight from Brussels via Budapest at 3.00am.
Customs officials inspected his luggage and found 314 US $100 notes hidden in four compartments in his suitcase.
The suspect was placed under arrest after a preliminary inspection of the notes revealed that they were counterfeit.
Police have announced that they expect to arrest a second suspect in connection with the case before the end of the day.
