President of the Republic of Cyprus Demetris Christofias will be meeting with the UN Secretary General`s Special Adviser on Cyprus Alexander Downer on Tuesday, at the Presidential Palace.

Speaking after their previous meeting on June 8, Downer had said that the UN expect from the leaders of the two communities in Cyprus, during their meeting with the Secretary General in Geneva on July 7, a clear way forward to concluding the negotiations.

The leaders of the two communities are scheduled to meet on Thursday at the residence of the UN Secretary General`s Special Representative in Cyprus Lisa Buttenheim, in Nicosia, in the framework of direct negotiations to solve the Cyprus problem.

During their meeting on June 1, President Christofias and Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu continued their discussions on police issues and exchanged views on the competences of the Federal Cyprus to sign international treaties.
