The President of the Republic of Cyprus Demetris Christofias, will pay a formal visit to Australia at the end of this month. His visit will take place from the 25th until the 30th of May.  Mr. Christofias will visit successively Canberra, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney. In Canberra, the Cypriot President will meet, among others,  Australian Prime Minster Julia Gillard and Governor –  General Quentin Bryce. His visit aims at bringing the two countries, which traditionally have a very friendly relationship, closer and at reassuring the bilateral cooperation of the Left, on the basis of the common principles of solidarity and reciprocity. The two countries will also have the chance to review their relationship and to extend their cooperation. Apart from these discussions, Christofias will inform Australia about the latest news concerning the Cyprus issue.
