Permanent Secretary of the Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Nicos Emiliou, who is in Washington for the 27th PSEKA conference, held a meeting Wednesday with US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Tina Kaidanov.

Their talks covered the latest developments in Cyprus, in view of the third meeting between President of the Republic Demetris Christofias, Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in Geneva in early July.

Kaidanov reiterated the firm US interest and support for a bizonal, bicommunal federation, with political equality, single sovereignty, international personality, adding that the process belongs to the Cypriots. She also talked about the need to intensify the talks.
