Titled “Greek Music Journey”, this year’s concert was dedicated to rebetika, pop and traditional songs, in support of an organization that promotes tradition, history and national issues of Hellenism.  The organization promotes Hellenism through cultural events, radio and TV programs. The concert took place at a hotel in Queens.  It was attended by a number of  Greek-Americans, presidents and representatives of Greek-American associations and by many Americans, friends of the organization, and by local officials.  Evangelos Kyriakopoulos and Consul General of Cyprus, Koula Sophianou were in attendance.

Officials underlined the important work of “Aktina”, concerning the cultural and national promotion of the motherlands, while they praised the contribution of the founder, president and radio producer of the organization Cypriot Elena Maroulleti (photo) . Composer Spiros Eksaras (guitar), Christos Papadopoulos (bouzouki, song), Leda Maniatakou (song), Megan Gault (violin, baglama) and Matthias Kanzlei (percussion) participated in the concert. Ellen Karis, the famous Greek-American comedian took part in the concert as well.
