Two  holidaymakers who were found lying dead in the street covered in blood early on Saturday morning. Were named last night as Mr Cooper, 25, and Mr Kouzaris, 24,  both from England.

A 16-year-old was arrested and charged with two counts of murder.

Police recovered about 20 shell casings from the scene.

The shootings took place in Sarasota – a Florida coast resort known for year-round sunshine, white sand beaches and golf courses.

It is feared the two men may have been attacked as they returned to their hotel. A Foreign Office spokesman said: ‘We can confirm the death of two British nationals in Florida.

‘Next of kin have been informed.

James Kouzaris is believed to be of Cypriot origin attended Sheffield University and was a keen marathon runner.
