Turkey is trying to promote a proposal for a multilateral conference between the air traffic centres of Turkey and Cyprus to legalise Tymbou airport in Cyprus. The proposal by the Turkish Government is in two stages . First a meeting between the Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot civil aviation authorities under the auspices of the United Nations and the International Civil Aviation Organization. Second a meeting in Paris with the participation of Turkey and Greece.

Both meetings Ankara suggested the presence of Eurocontrol and the European Commission.

The Turks in their proposal promote the Tymbou Airport as modern effective with the intention of linking the air traffic centres in the Eastern Mediteranean.

“We believe that technical and practical solutions can be found without bias in political and legal positions of the parties” says Ankara in an attempt to legalise  the illegal Airport of Tymbou.
