US President Barack Obama celebrated the anniversary of Greek Independence at the White House.
Greek government officials, US deputies, prominent Greek-Americans, the Greek and Cypriot Ambassadors in Washington as well as Archbishop Demetrios of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America attended the celebration which took place on Friday.
Addressing the guests, President Obama spoke about the bond between the two nations and the “excellent“ relations with Greek Prime Minister George Panandreou, whom he called “a very good friend“.
