There are 22 green points in operation across Cyprus, Environment Minister Costas Kadis said on Thursday, adding that the aim is to set up another 14 such points to accommodate big areas and dozen more in the rural areas.

Speaking to the press during a visit to Paphos district, the Minister said that the green points strategy has proven that the state needs to be near the citizens and help them with various projects that will accommodate them and make their lives easier.

He said that the points in the rural areas will be connected with bigger spots for better management of the material dropped there and noted that green points are a very important tool for the introduction of the EU strategy for sorting waste at the source.
Kadis also said that these points need to operate in the right way to meet their aims.
