Cyprus Police have reported 101 individuals and one shop owner for violating protective measures in place to contain the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

A police spokesperson told CNA that in the last 24 hours ending at 06:00 local time, the Police carried out a total of 12,296 checks throughout the island.

In Nicosia the Police conducted 2,415 checks reporting 19 individuals and one shop owner, in Limassol 39 individuals were reported following 4,027 checks, in Larnaca 1,230 checks were carried out with 12 individuals receiving a fine, in Pafos 1,516 checks were carried out with 15 individuals being reported, in Famagusta also 1,516 checks were carried out and 15 citizens were fined, while in Morphou the Police carried out 656 checks with no reports.

The spokesperson added the Traffic Department carried out 888 checks reporting 1 individual, while the Police Rapid Response Unit and the Marine and Port Police carried out 12 and 36 checks respectively reporting no one for violations.
