Ministry of Health announced on Monday the death of one person from COVID-19, while 131 new cases were confirmed from 34,190 PCR and antigen rapid test, with a positivity rate 0.38%.

The total number of deaths rose to 230, while the total number of COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic increased to 33,391.
 
A Ministry of Health announcement says that an 89 year old man with underlying conditions died at Limassol General Hospital. Of the 230 people who died from COVID-19, 154 were men (67%) and 76 women (33%), with a median age of 79.

It was also announced that 76 patients are being treated in hospitals, 26 of whom are in critical condition or they are treated in  Advanced Care Units. Twelve patients are intubated, six are receiving treatment in Intensive Care Units without being intubated and 8 are being treated in Advanced Care Units. 

Twenty-two patients are being treated in Famagusta Hospital, 25 are in Nicosia General Hospital, in Limassol Hospital there are 28 inpatients while in Makario Hospital one patient is receiving treatment.
 
Health authorities announced that 34 new cases were detected from 312 samples taken in the framework of close contacts of confirmed cases, one case was found from 158 samples taken from secondary contacts. Another 6 infections were detected from 899 samples taken from passengers in Larnaca and Paphos Airports. Ten infections were found from 712 samples taken on private initiative.
 
Moreover, 5 cases were detected out of 200 tests carried out by General Hospital Labs and 75 infections were found from 31,238 antigen rapid tests.

No infections were found after testing 399 samples with antigen rapid tests at private labs and from 272 samples from GP’s referrals and special groups screening at Public Health Centers.
