Two deaths from COVID-19 and 427 new cases were announced on Thursday by authorities in Cyprus. The positivity rate is 3.69%. The total number of deaths is 140 and the total number of cases 26,208.

Moreover 196 patients are getting treatment in hospitals and 49 are in serious condition. The total number of tests (PCR and rapid) today was 11,576.

The deceased are a woman aged 79 with underlying conditions who was getting treatment at the ICU of the Nicosia General Hospital and a male 63 years old, with no underlying conditions who passed away at his home. From the 140 deaths in the Republic, 94 are male (67%), and 46 female (33%) with a median age of 80 years.

From the 49 patients in serious condition, 26 are intubated, 6 are in ICUs and 17 in Advanced Care Unit (ACU).

The positive cases were detected as follows:

101 from 757 samples through contact tracing process, 32 from 620 tests done on private initiative, 31 from 495 samples from the Microbiology Labs of General Hospitals island wide and 263 from 9,049 rapid tests.

No cases were detected from 517 samples at airports, from 40 samples taken from people on the 7th day of their quarantine (arrivals from the UK ) and from 98 tests carried out following GP referrals and at public health clinics.
