Firefighters were called to the partial collapse at a two-storey industrial building that was being demolished.

A site worker was trapped under the concrete and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Around 27 members of the public were evacuated from an adjoining building as a precaution.

The Brigade’s Urban Search and Rescue crews worked alongside the Health and Safety Executive and the Metropolitan Police Service to retrieve the body of the man.

The Brigade was called at 1419 and the incident was over for firefighters by 2211. Four fire engines and three fire rescue units from Tottenham, Stoke Newington, Holloway, Edmonton, Battersea and East Ham fire stations were at the scene.
