Cyprus residences travelling abroad declined to 37,406 in July 2020, marking a steep reduction of 77.5% compared with the respective period of 2019 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
 
According to the Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat) the main countries from which the residents of Cyprus returned in July 2020, were Greece, the United Kingdom, Germany, Bulgaria and Romania.
 
As compared to July 2019, the returns of residents from Greece decreased by 64.9%, returns from the United Kingdom decreased by 90.0%, from Germany by 72.9%, from Bulgaria by 83.9% and from Romania by 86.1%.
 
Cystat said that the data for July 2020 were obtained from processing of the data of the electronic platform “Cyprus Flight Pass”. Due to issues that arose from the self-declared information provided by the passengers, it was not possible to provide a more extensive analysis, Cystat added.
