Cyprus authorities announced on Tuesday one new confirmed coronavirus case, out of 1,754 laboratory tests that have been carried out.

A press release issued by the Ministry of Health’s Epidemiological Surveillance Unit said that the new confirmed case was diagnosed out of 379 lab tests done for passengers and people who have been repatriated. The person who tested positive is an Albanian citizen, with permanent residence in Cyprus, who returned from Albania (Category C) via Athens on July 13 and underwent a laboratory test at the airport.

Moreover no positive cases were detected out of 511 lab tests carried out in the framework of the programme for checking 10,000 employees who went back to work during phase B and C of easing restrictive measures, 154 lab tests completed as part of the contact tracing programme, 110 tests carried out by the Microbiological Labs of the General Hospitals and 326 lab tests completed as part of referrals from personal doctors and special groups screening through the public health centres.

After today’s results, the total number of cases of COVID-19 cases in Cyprus have reached 1,023.
