In the midst of lockdown and social distancing, singers and musicians are having to find new ways to keep creative, perform and stay connected with their fans. London born Cypriot singer-songwriter Kat decided to take on this challenge by launching ‘The Rise Sessions’ – a new series of virtual collaborations with a host of talented musicians and fellow singers during lockdown 2020.

The first episode launched on Monday 20th April and showcased a stripped-down version of Kat’s original song “Rise” accompanied by talented acoustic guitarist Adam Green. The track is set to feature on the singer’s upcoming debut EP “Warrior Heart” and has only previously been performed at the singer’s live gigs. With themes of overcoming difficult life experiences, embracing vulnerability and mental health it feels extremely relevant to our current times. In the second instalment Kat teams up with Adam once again, this time putting their spin on the R&B Soul classic “Don’t Let Go (Love)” originally by En Vogue.
So why ‘The Rise Sessions’? Kat explained: “I felt this new reality we are living in at the moment is challenging us all to rise up to these unprecedented times and to find new ways to express ourselves and connect. Gigging, like for many musicians, is what we live for!

“The current obstacles we are facing with lockdown and social distancing means that we have had to find other creative ways to continue performing, collaborating and making music. If we can’t gig right now then we will bring the live music scene to us!

“Although initially inspired by the restrictions of quarantine, I want this to be something that continues beyond our confinement! Also, its’ a theme embodied in my song “Rise” – so that was handy!”
