A total of 27 motorbikes and four cars were confiscated by the Police during the last 24 hours and five people were arrested, Police Spokesperson Christos Andreou told the CNA.

He said that the patrol checks began yesterday and that the main target is traffic violations. The police confiscated 16 motorbikes last week , he said. He pointed out that Police Chief had a videoconference yesterday with the Heads of Police Units in all districts and clear orders were given for targeted patrolling, regading speeding, motorbikes` modifications and noise pollution.

Andreou told CNA that the checks will continue in the next day adding that the Police will spare no effort and will be strict for the safety of drivers and the other citizens who use the streets. He aded that the Police reported 300 drivers for various traffic violations around the island.
