The Foreign Ministers of Russia and Cyprus, Sergey Lavrov and Nikos Christodoulides, had on Wednesday an in-depth discussion of the problems of the Eastern Mediterranean, the Middle East and North Africa, with an emphasis on the situation in Libya and the deadlock in the Palestinian-Israeli peace settlement, a press release issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

According to the press release, Lavrov and Christodoulides had a telephone conversation at the latter’s initiative and discussed the developments in both countries due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection. “They discussed measures to minimise the consequences of the pandemic and help citizens of both countries to return home,” it is added.

The Russian Foreign Ministry also noted that the two Ministers “reviewed the bilateral agenda in the context of celebrating the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year and agreed to speed up work on enhancing rules and regulations in bilateral relations.”

“The Foreign Ministers had an in-depth discussion of the problems of the Eastern Mediterranean, the Middle East and North Africa, with an emphasis on the situation in Libya and the deadlock in the Palestinian-Israeli peace settlement,” the press release concluded.
