We welcome the announcement on April the 15th 2020 by the Health Secretary, Matt Hancock, that the Government will be increasing the supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) to care homes, and for the first time ensuring that all elderly residents (rather than just those who are symptomatic) are tested for Covid-19 before they are discharged from hospitals back to care homes.

We are also reassured that the government is now increasing testing in care homes across the UK. We have received tests for Covid-19 at Autumn Gardens, and the majority of residents and staff there have already been tested. We will be in touch with individual families when we receive the results. We have not yet received testing kits for residents at Anastasia Lodge but securing them remains one of our top priorities.

Lastly, Mr Hancock thanked social care workers for their courage and commitment at this difficult and demanding time, and we echo that praise. Our teams at Autumn Gardens and Anastasia Lodge have worked tirelessly to try to limit the spread of coronavirus and to keep our residents safe and comfortable in the most challenging of circumstances.”
