A total of 153 drivers and pedestrians were reported by the Police for violations of the decree for unnecessary movement issued by the Minister of Health to restrict the spread of coronavirus.

A Police press spokesman told CNA that Police performed 4.161 checks from 1800 Wednesday until 0600 on Thursday. It also carried out 1.111 checks at premises but no violations were detected.

In Nicosia 2.111 drivers and pedestrians were checked and 50 reports were made, in Limassol 606 with 16 reports, in Larnaca 409 checks and 28 reports, Paphos 120 checks with 18 reports, Famagusta 411 checks and 26 reports and in Morphou 114 checks and one report.

The extra judicial penalty that may be imposed on persons in violation of decrees of the Minister of Health, under the Law on Vaccination was raised to 300 Euros from 150 Euros.
