Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command (Homicide) are investigating following the death of a woman in Edmonton.

Police were called at 18:04hrs on Monday, 6 April to a residential flat in Pennine House, Plevna Road, N9 after concerns were raised for the safety of an occupant.

Officers attended and found an unresponsive woman with serious injuries.

London Ambulance Service attended and a 57-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her next of kin have been informed.

A post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

A 65-year-old man was arrested close to the scene on suspicion of murder. He is currently detained at a north London police station.

The parties are believed to be known to each other.

A crime scene is in place. Enquiries continue.
