We’re all working together to support the most vulnerable in our communities, this involves a major food distribution operation at Alexandra Palace and the Tottenham Hotspur stadium. Find out more here.

The council and its partners are working to provide food and essential items to Haringey households that are most in need. This week, council staff and volunteers began working alongside Tottenham Hotspur and VCS organisations such as Edible London to put together food packs at our two redistribution centres at Alexandra Palace and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

We currently have hundreds of helpers and have delivered hundreds of food parcels in just over two days. As we progress, we expect to have even more people helping and aim to deliver several hundred parcels daily. The council is also redeploying some of its Civil Enforcement Officers (parking wardens) to support the food hubs and help get essential items to the most vulnerable people in our community.

Our teams are following strict health and safety protocols while working in line with government guidelines on COVID-19.  Staff are required to be 2 metres apart and to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times – PPE is disposed of at the end of each day to avoid cross contamination.

Due to government rules on social distancing and non-essential travel, we are not asking for donations from individuals, but we are welcoming contributions from businesses or VCS organisations, particularly dry and tinned foods and essential household items such as sanitary and cleaning products.

The food distribution hub at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is running low on supplies and we would be grateful for any urgent donations. If your business is able to support us with immediate donations please contact[email protected]

We are so grateful for the community’s amazing response so far. Thank you.

Edible London founder, Sunny Karagozlu, said: “Edible London have been doing this for two and a half years, but the amount of beneficiaries has now increased vastly. Now we’ve joined forces with Haringey Council and are able to reach loads more people. This is Haringey showing teamwork makes the dream work. Big love to everyone.”

Cllr Joseph Ejiofor, Leader of Haringey Council, said: “I’m inspired by the generosity of our community, who have stepped up so quickly to help. We have staff and volunteers on the ground working tirelessly at our two food redistribution centres, Alexandra Palace and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, alongside our voluntary sector partners, such as Edible London. By working together we’re ensuring food can get to hundreds of households who need it most. With even more volunteers, we hope we’ll be able to support thousands, so please do get in touch if you can help.”
