Whether you usually attend a fitness class session at a studio, or regularly visit the gym for your workout, there is no need to stop just because you can no longer attend these places. Why not get fit in the comfort of your own home? You will need to get yourself motivated. There are so many ways to keep fit on the go now with all the latest technology at the touch of your fingertips. Through smart phones, tablets and TVs, a person can access a wide range of classes including some basic classes on YouTube.

Want to work out with your favourite specialist instructor? There are many fitness channels that specialise in this, if you have access on your device. The well-known Body In Balance Fitness Channel is also available on many platforms including a Greek version on Cosmote Greece. Virgin Media TV packages include the Body in Balance in their apps section and it is also available on Amazon which you can easily find and use on many of your devices. Bibnet.app includes great programs such as a Yoga, Capoeira, the Grandmaster Shifugi workout, Weight Training workouts, Hip Hop Fit, Train Like A Cheerleader, and of course Bellydance to name but a few. There are programs on nutrition and meditation, along with so much more.

Of course if you usually attend particular classes, there are many instructors that are now doing live classes on Zoom, where you can work out at home along with other people at the same time. So you can still stick to your normal routine, at a pace you are familiar with.

For those who are not familiar or don’t have access to the internet and programs, there are a great selection of simple DVD workout programs that you can buy at your local supermarkets or get someone to order online for you.

Not everyone is fortunate to have a full multigym in their home, fully equipped with some free weights so use what you have at home as your simple workout tools. A chair, or other simple furniture items can be amazing tools to work out. Improvise, fill empty bottles and bags with sand, pebbles or even canned groceries, to create weights to work with instead of dumbbell and kettlebells.

You can also purchase simple exercise resistance band packs that you can use each individually or combined together where you can create greater strength resistance as you improve. These packs usually include straps for hands, wrists and ankles, a block strap to slide under or on top of a door that can be closed to allow you to pull against with your body. It is simple and can be very versatile. These are also great for the future when travelling.

For many exercise programs, all you need is your body weight; doing press ups, sit ups, the well-known plank exercise, leg raises etc. Don’t forget all these should be done correctly and with good technique in order to avoid any injuries. This is why it is important to have some sort of guidance by a specialist in their subject. Take note on the little simple tips of body alignment – it is the key to avoid any discomfort and possible injury. They will always suggest you have the approval of your GP to exercise for your particular current health level.

It is harder to motivate yourself sometimes if you are on your own, but you have the advantage of dedicating some time on a day that you have a high energetic level. It is the perfect time to do you exercise program as you will maximise the intensity of your training to full capacity.

Remember, exercise also releases endorphins that makes us feel good and happy. This is especially important at the moment in order to retain our wellbeing in both mind and body.
