The Ministry of Health blood bank has called on the public to donate blood so that there will be an adequate quantity of blood products for the patients.

On March 24 blood donation was the lowest ever in Cyprus and for many hours there was no new blood donor registered.

“During these difficult times that out county and the whole humanity the blood centre calls on you to show social solidarity and altruism,” a press release issued on Wednesday said.

A decree issued earlier this week by the Health Minister bans unnecessary movement with a view to prevent the spread of COVID-19, however one of the exceptions concerns people who want to donate blood.
