The results of the opinion poll “Vision for the future of the two communities in Cyprus”, commissioned by the Office of the Special Adviser to the UN Secretary General on Cyprus, to better understand the current political, social, economic and security expectations and fears of the Greek Cypriot and the Turkish Cypriot communities in relation to three scenarios, were discussed on Wednesday by the leaders and representatives of Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot political parties.

The parties met for their regular meeting at the Ledra Palace in the Nicosia buffer zone, under the auspices of the Embassy of the Slovak Republic.

In their joint communique, the parties note that the Turkish Cypriot National Unity Party (UBP) could not assume the role of the hosting party and, as a replacement of programme, the Slovak Embassy invited two researchers, Christos Marangos from CYMAR and Mine Yucel from Prologue Consulting, who conducted the opinion poll.

After the presentation, participants had opportunity to discuss with the researchers results of the survey.

The next regular meeting of the leaders and the representatives of the political parties will be held on 18 March 2020 at the Ledra Palace.
