New Salamis still second place and chasing top spot New Salamis recorded a second successive 6-0 win in Division One of the Spartan South Midlands League, this time beating second-bottom Park View.

Salamis had already thrashed local rivals Enfield Borough last week to take their season’s tally of goals to 96, but a further six-goal haul on Saturday saw them become the first team in all three divisions of the Spartan League to reach triple figures as well as become the top scorers in the country at step six level.

Park View had picked up an impressive 2-1 win against promotion hopefuls Milton Keynes Robins in the week to ease their relegation worries, but they were on the back foot straight away as Harrison Georgiou opened the scoring after five minutes and Deniz Mehmet doubled the lead on 10 minutes.

Captain Ryan Hervel saw his corner float all the way in to make it 3-0 and Phil Lowen made sure it was four before the break when he made amends after a previously disallowed goal.

Salamis came out eager to add to their score and inflict more misery on the visitors in the second half.

Luke Durnin got them underway after the break, providing a cool finish past the goalkeeper after being sent through on goal.

Charlie Georgiou then won a penalty, which saw the Park View defender dismissed for a second yellow, and he converted by sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to make it six for the hosts.

An 8-1 win for leaders St Panteleimon against Shefford Town & Campton means the gap between them and Salamis remains six points.
