Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to flooding on Ordnance Road in Enfield.

Around 300m of Ordnance Road between Newbury Avenue and Salisbury Road was flooded to a depth of approximately 18 inches after a water main burst. Around 100 houses were also flooded.

Borough Commander Richard Tapp, who was at the scene, said: “Firefighters worked to investigate which properties were affected and fortunately there were no emergency evacuations.

“Crews used two light portable pumps to pump the water away from the road and affected houses.”

The Brigade was called at 0119 and the incident was over for firefighters by 0822. Fire crews from Enfield, Chingford and Edmonton fire stations attended  the incident.
