The twenty-third edition of UK Jewish Film Festival will take place across London in November and December.

London screenings take place between 6-21 November, along with a UK tour of festival highlights being brought to twenty towns and cities across England, Scotland and Wales until 12 December.

This year’s festival promises to be an unmissable event for all cinema lovers, with 96 films, plus Q&As and discussions, making it the largest Jewish film festival programme in the world!

Some festival highlights include:

  • Closing Night Gala – The Oscar tipped satire JOJO RABIT from cult filmmaker Taika Waititi, starring Waititi himself alongside Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell and Rebel Wilson. This World War II satire follows Jojo, a lonely German boy whose imaginary friend is an idiotic Adolf Hitler.
  • Centrepiece Gala – THE OPERATIVE, directed by Yuval Adler and starring Diane Kruger and Martin Freeman, will receive its UK Premiere at this year’s UK Jewish Film Festival. Based on the Israeli novel, The English Teacher, and featuring a stellar Israeli and international cast, The Operative asks whether love for a man is more important than service to your nation.
  • The unpredictably brilliant Golden Bear winner at this year’s Berlin International Film Festival, SYNONYMS, will also be screening at this year’s UK Jewish Film Festival. Synonyms follows a young Israeli man who flees to Paris after completing his army service with the intention of erasing his Israeli identity, wickedly observing an outsider trying to fit in all with a devilish sense of humour.

  • Directed by the team behind The Farewell Party and A Matter of SizeFLAWLESS channels classic American teen movies while touching on issues such as gender transition and peer pressure in the digital age. Led by transgender actress Stav Strashko, the first ever transgender woman to be nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Israeli Academy Awards for her role in the film.
