According to reports in the Cypriot press, Colombian pop singer Shakira has bought a top-of-the-range villa at an exclusive luxury resort in coastal Peyia, Paphos.

The resort provides all sorts of sports facilities, a state-of-the-art spa, heated swimming pools, water sports, yoga, horse riding, cycling lanes and much more.

Shakira and her footballer husband Gerard Piqué, who plays for Barcelona, are parents to two sons, Milan, aged 6, and Sasha, 4.

Their new holiday home is built on a 2,500 square-meter plot. It boasts six bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a dedicated room for home cinema, private fitness centre, Jacuzzi, indoor and outdoor pools, wine cellar, and many other amenities for guests.

The Barcelona-based celebrity couple have visited Cyprus many times during the last several months. It is believed their purchase of the villa near the Akamas region had a lot to do with the friendly and hospitable people in the area.
