Tony Nicholas was born in Komi Kebir in 1933, son of Chrystallo and Nicolis. He came to England in the late 1940’s, along with his siblings Yiakoumis, Yiannos, Nitsa, Andrica, Fanos, and Elias, they founded the bridal and cocktail wear manufacturing company House of Nicholas, also known by the name of Nicholas Brothers. The company became well known all over the world for their products and in the late 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s, gave employment to thousands of Cypriots coming to England for a new future. Tony travelled extensively in his work, and always enjoyed meeting people and experiencing new places.
In December 1970, Tony married Athena Loizides in London. They had three children, Nikianna, Omiros and Maria. They lived in London until Tony moved back to Cyprus in 1991 for a few years, before returning to England in 1995. Tony continued to visit Cyprus frequently and, in 2005, was able to visit his village, Komi Kebir.
Tony was a wonderful father to his three children, he enjoyed many things in life, and had many good friends, continuing his visits to the kinotiko right to the very end.
Tony was very devoted to continuing the name of his village Komi Kebir, in the occupied part of Cyprus, to thrive and helping his fellow villagers and village association in the UK and Cyprus.
