Cyprus managed to beat Kazakhstan by 1 – 2 on Thursday evening in a match for the EURO 2020 qualifiers, in Astana Arena

This win means the Cypriot football team is now third in its group with 10 points, behind Belgium and Russia.

By the end of the first half of the match Cyprus was losing by 1 – 0, but it managed to recover in the second half and turn the game around.

The hosts raced into an early lead with a goal by Termilav Erlanov (34`). In the second half Pieros Soteriou scored a goal (73`)  and Nicolas Ioannou scored the winning goal for Cyprus (84`).

The two teams had faced each other in September, in Nicosia, with the match ending in a 1-1 draw.

Cyprus next faces Russia on Sunday at the GSP stadium, in Nicosia.
