AEK U11 2 Maccabi 4
AEK U13 (2)
Edmonton Rangers (8)
We had a very good first half going ahead first and were very unlucky to be trailing 2-1 at half time. In the second half the team worked hard but tiredness and basic mistakes cost us. The lack of ability to clear the ball from defence cost us. The result did not reflect the performance but we need to work on basic defensive errors. If we work on these we will see results improve
AEK u17’s Gold (0) team Cassiobury Rangers Park FC u17’s (4). This was a league game against a well organised and ball playing team that dropped down from the division above from last season. Having only 11 players available for the match, I took the unusual step of announcing the positions and tactics to the players the night before, to get them prepared for the game ahead. Although this did help from the start, we were under pressure from the kick off and the opposition had quite a few shots on goal, hitting the bar twice in the first 30 minutes. Our team held out well and begun to accept that this was going to be a tough game and they dug in to show resilience, which they did up until half way through when they went a goal down. This continued but they conceded a second from a dubious penalty hand ball decision, but still stayed positive and held our formation until half time. The second half was much of the same, with them continually using their 4 substitutes throughout both halves to refresh their line up. We stuck to our game plan but inevitably tired, to which the opposition took full advantage of this to score their third and fourth goals, with some great saves from our goalkeeper inbetween. Positives from the match was all the players gave 110% throughout and stuck to the tactics and formation asked.
