Multi-disciplinary project reducing rough sleeping commended in awards.
The Haringey Rough Sleeping Taskforce has been highly commended for its work tackling rough sleeping in the borough.
The collaboration of public, voluntary and community sector services works to tackle the harms of rough sleeping.

The team prioritises relationships and individual outcomes, working in partnership with whoever can help to find ways to get people get off the streets.
Gill Taylor, the Strategic Lead for Single Homelessness & Vulnerable Adults in Haringey said: “Despite rough sleeping increasing across the country the taskforce has achieved a 30% reduction in street homelessness in the last year. The team have a can-do approach, using all the tools, services and ideas in our armoury to support people off the streets. We’re really pleased to have supported a number of long-term street homeless people into housing this year. “

They will soon open Mulberry Junction, a one-stop-shop service providing advice, support and accommodation options for single homeless people in Haringey, focussing on rough sleeping and multiple disadvantage.
In addition the taskforce has developed a unique Homelessness Fatality Review procedure; this means that a review is held if someone dies whilst homeless in the borough. This can help to bring about positive change to policies and working practices affecting homeless people and ultimately aims to reduce death on the streets and in hostels.
Simon Dow chaired the judging panel. He said “The judges were impressed with the work the taskforce have been doing, with very positive results. We particularly welcomed the fatality review process and believe that this could usefully be adopted by other boroughs across London.”
