A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man in Edmonton.

Police were called at 20:10hrs on Saturday, 14 September, to a report of a man with stab injuries in Houndsfield Road, Edmonton.

Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service and found a 29-year-old man with serious injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

The man’s next of kin have not been informed and enquiries are ongoing to establish his identity and trace his family.

Formal identification awaits and a post-mortem examination will be held in due course.

Detectives from Specialist Crime are investigating. At this early stage, urgent enquiries are underway to establish the circumstances.

A 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently in custody.

Detectives are particularly keen to hear from anyone who attended an event at the nearby Old Edmontonians FC clubhouse on Saturday evening. The incident is not thought to be connected to the event or the football club, however it is possible that somebody present may have seen something significant.
