The Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow warning for Monday between the hours of 1230 and 1700, as temperatures are expected to reach 41 degrees Celsius inland and 32 in the mountains.

Meanwhile, the Fire Brigade is on alert to tackle possible fires caused by the heatwave. Staff has been called in and patrols have been increased in cooperation with the Police, night and day, in all districts, especially those with a higher fire risk.

The public is advised to be especially careful and avoid any activities that may cause a fire.

In case of a fire, the public should immediately inform the authorities on telephone numbers 112 and 1407.
