­Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were  called to a fire at a flat above a shop in Camden High Street.

A first floor flat was destroyed by fire

The Brigade’s 999 control officers took 27 calls to reports of the fire.

The Brigade was called at 1256 and the fire was under control at 1352. Fire crews from Euston, Kentish Town, Soho and Holloway fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
