The Cypriot Golf Society held the CGS Open at Fox Hills Golf Club, on the Bernhard Hunt course on 10th July 2019. The sponsor of the day was Jimmy Demetriou of Double D Properties Ltd.
51 members and 5 guests competed for the prestigious Claret Cup. The weather was perfect for golf, partly cloudy, sunny and warm, 25 C. The Bernhard Hunt course was in excellent condition with lush fairways, and beautifully manicured greens that were rolling true at medium-fast pace. This was the 3rd time the CGS have held an event at Fox Hills and the food and service was excellent.
Winner of the day was the young rookie member, Nick Falekkos. Nick scored a fantastic 41 points playing off a 17 handicap. Nick has played in the CGS competitions on numerous occasions as a guest, but this was his first event as a member, setting a new record winning in his first competition as a member. Nick is a member of Hadley Wood Golf Club and has been working hard at his game this summer, coached by Andrew Adams.
Captain Vavs thanked his dear friend and sponsor, Jimmy Demetriou, for his generous sponsorship. The Captain managed to raise on the day, a fantastic amount of £910.00 for his chosen charity, Muscular Dystrophy for Children. The total raised for the year so far is approximately £7000! Well done to the Captain and the members for their generous donations for this worthy cause.
