In a renewed appeal detectives have released new CCTV of the vehicle believed to have been driven by the murderers of Calvin Bungisa to flee the scene in Kentish Town.

Four months on from the tragic murder of the 22-year-old, homicide detectives are keen to speak with anyone who may have information about the events of that night or the occupants of the getaway vehicle.

A call was made to police at approximately 20:30hrs on Monday, 1 April to report of a stabbing in Grafton Road at the junction with Vicar’s Road, NW5.

Officers, the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance attended and found the 22-year-old with multiple stab injuries.

He was pronounced dead at the scene at 21:01hrs and a murder investigation was launched.

Detectives believe that several male suspects ran out of Vicar’s Road and chased Calvin down Grafton Road before fatally attacking him. The suspects then ran back into Vicar’s Road and got into a dark coloured VW Bora to escape, which drove off in the direction of Weedington Road.

Hours later officer’s found the car burnt out in Court Gardens. The car continues to be forensically examined.

The three newly released CCTV clips illustrate three different scenes from that incident, each featuring the car. The first clip shows the dark coloured VW Bora driving along Grafton Road, close to the scene of murder, the second clip shows the car fleeing the scene at speed and dangerously driving through a red traffic light. The third clip was taken hours later as the vehicle was driven to Court Gardens where it was to be burnt out.

Calvin’s next of kin continue to be supported by specialist officers.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Cranwell who is the lead investigator said: “Irrespective of the time lapse we are no less committed to establishing the facts and finding those callous killers who deprived Calvin of his life and took him away from his loving family.

“At the start of this investigation the community were excellent in helping us to pull together the events that led to the murder. However, naturally, with time, the flow of information is dwindling and we still have much work to do.

“We hope the CCTV clips may remind someone of the events that evening and encourage them to come forward, if not direct to police, then anonymously through Crimestoppers. No matter how insignificant you may think the information is, it could help us bring these killers to justice, give some peace to a grieving family and make a community safer.

“Sadly there remains the possibility that Calvin’s murder was gang related and if so, there is a good chance that there are a number of people who will know what happened that night, and more importantly, who is responsible.

“Specifically there were a group of young men who we know were with Calvin prior to his murder and we would very much like to speak with them. If you knew Calvin or if he was your friend, please consider doing the right thing. His mother, sister, brothers and grandmother, are grieving and need to know why he was killed.

“Remember, you can pass information anonymously if you do not want to speak directly to us, Crimestoppers are independent of Police, and will make sure we are updated with what could be vital information to protecting a community.

“There is a current Crimestoppers reward of up to £10,000 for information leading to the conviction of Calvin’s murderers”.

A 23-year-old man [A] was arrested on suspicion of murder on the 1 July. He has since been released under investigation.
