A murder investigation has been launched after a man was fatally shot in Wembley.

Police were called to Harrow Road, HA9 at 20:10hrs on Friday, 5 July following reports of a shooting.

Local officers and armed police attended along with London Ambulance Service and found a man believed to be aged in his thirties suffering from critical gunshot injuries.

He was taken to a north London hospital but died a short while later.

His next of kin have now been informed.

A post-mortem examination will be held in due course. Formal identification awaits.

A crime scene remains in place. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command will be investigating in close partnership with police in Brent.

No arrests have been made. Enquiries continue.

Local residents can expect an enhanced police presence in the area.
