On Tuesday 18th June 2019, Kosta Vazanias, loving husband and father of four children passed away suddenly at the age of 62

Kosta was born on November 9th 1956 in Hampstead hospital and started life from humble beginnings living in an attic room on the Finchley Road with his Mother, father and older brother Michael who came to England from Athienou, Cyprus. A hard working family they soon moved to Cricklewood where Kosta grew up and went to school. It didn’t take long for his sporting talent, particularly in football to shine where he played in the same schoolboy football and cricket team as the likes of Mike Gatting future captain of England.

After school and fitting with his close family bond he joined his brother in the fashion trade where together they created a highly successful business supplying all the major stores on the high street as well as their own label. Eventually having their own fleet of retail stores in major shopping centres and high streets including Oxford St and Kings Rd.

Later after retiring Kosta went back to his love of football, being heavily involved in the local community coaching local youth football teams.While coaching the Omonia youth U18, which contained two of his four sons Harry and Michael, the team went on to win the prestigious Middlesex county cup. With his wife Lisa he also helped organise and participate in fundraising for Omonia Youth and cancer charities which raised over £10,000.

Kosta was deeply admired in his local community and loved by his family, he will be dearly missed by all.

Kosta was preceded in death by his father Harry and his mother Maria. His is survived by his loving wife Lisa, his four children, Andreas, Harry, Michael and Christopher, his brother Michael and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday 11th July 2019 at  12 noon at the Greek Orthodox Church of the 12 Apostles, Kentish Lane, Brookmans Park, Hatfield, Herts AL9 6NG and the burial at Hendon cemetery, Holders Hill Road, London NW7  1NB.

The wake will take place at Allianz Park, Greenlands Lane, Hendon, London NW4 1RL
