DISY is following the same communications policy as the government. It is hiding things and misleading the people about AKEL’s position with regards the Turkish side’s attitude on the Cyprus problem.

Just yesterday AKEL had strongly criticized and denounced the Turkish Foreign Minster’s provocative statements.

The only thing DISY’s stand achieves is to disclose the government ruling force’s inability to provide an answer to a straightforward and crucial question about the President of the Republic’s policy on the Cyprus problem.

The government ruling forces should at long last give a reply to the following question:

How convincing and trustworthy can the President of the Republic be when he calls for the resumption of negotiations at the same time as he puts forth his so-called new ideas, which annul the convergences recorded and are outside the Guterres Framework, when the UN Secretary General is insisting on continuing the negotiations on the basis of his Framework and the safeguarding the convergences that have been agreed?

Only those who are deluding themselves do not see the big contradiction in the President’s policy, which damages his credibility and persuasiveness.
