MP Maria Vamvakinou signed the condolence book of the late Cypriot statesman Demetris Christofias

She visited the Cyprus High Commission in Canberra  to sign the condolence book for HE Mr Demetris Christofias, and to pass her sympathies on behalf of the Cyprus- Australia Parliamentary Friendship Group.

President Christofias dedicated his life to pursuing justice for his beloved homeland Cyprus, and fought hard during his term as president to secure the reunification of Cyprus.

Maria said “I had the fortune to meet President Christofias on a number of occasion throughout his career. He was a humble man who will always be remembered as a strong political leader. My sympathies go out to his family and the people of Cyprus.
