Police have arrested seven individuals as part of a crackdown on violent offenders involved in drugs supply in Islington. 

Warrants were executed at ten addresses across the borough on the morning of Wednesday, 26 June, with six men and one women – aged between 19 and 60 years old – arrested on suspicion of drug supply offences.

In addition to the arrests, a number of items were seized at the properties, including a ‘Rambo’-style knife and a significant quantity of Class A and B drugs.

More than 140 officers from a range of units from across the Met took part in this morning’s activity, including officers from the Central North Gangs Unit, the Territorial Support Group and other local borough officers.

Warrants were executed at addresses on the following streets:

– Caledonian Road, N7; (two different addresses)
– St Pauls Avenue, NW2;
– Liverpool Road, N1;
– Kinross House, N1;
– Copenhagen Street, N1;
– Watkinson Road N7;
– Penton Rise WC1;
– Carnoustie Drive N1;
– Rodenhurst Road, SW4.

The arrests were the culmination of a six-month-long, intelligence-led, proactive investigation targeting violent drug dealers in Islington.

Detective Chief Inspector Ralph Coates, of the Central North Gangs Unit, said: “Today’s arrests demonstrate our commitment to the people of Islington that we are determined to reduce violence and disrupt the associated supply of Class A drugs.

“This proactive operation is part of my team’s ongoing work to disrupt drug-dealing on the borough and will help make the local community safer and reduce the amount of violence on the streets.”
