Revenue from tourism declined to €96,6 mn in March 2019 from €110,0 mn in the corresponding month of the previous year, recording a decrease of 12.2%, on the basis of the results of the Passenger Survey, published on Friday by the Statistical Service.

 

Between January and March 2019 revenue from tourism stood at €188,6 mn compared with €201,1 mn in the corresponding period of 2018, a decrease of 6.2%.

 

Expenditure per person declined marginally to €568,19 or 0.7% in March 2019 from €572,48 in the same month last year, whereas expenditure per person/per day also decreased by 0.7%, from €68,97 to €68,46. The average length of stay remained the same as last year at 8,3 days.

 

Moreover, expenditure per person from January until March 2019 reached €527,64 compared with €544,36 in the same month of the previous year, recording a decrease of 3.1%, while expenditure per person/per day increased slightly by 0.4%, from €62,57 to €62,81.
